Awards season is not just for Hollywood. We have it in the Construction industry too! This month saw the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) Annual Meeting take place in Scottsdale, Arizona. Among the national award winners announced at the meeting were the recipients of the 2012 Diamond Achievement and Diamond Quality Commendation awards.
Diamond Program
The National Asphalt Pavement Association has created its Diamond Commendation Program – the Diamond Achievement, and Diamond Quality Awards – to help companies in the asphalt industry set and achieve the highest standards.
The Diamond Commendations encourage and recognize excellence. Continuous improvement in all aspects of operations is the goal. The commendations are self-assessments which require third-party verification by community leaders or other individuals who are not affiliated with the company. Recognition is both national (facilitated by NAPA) and local (facilitated by state asphalt pavement associations and by companies within their own communities).
The Diamond Achievement Commendation covers operations both in the manufacturing plant and around the plant's site. The aspects addressed include appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, permitting and regulatory compliance, and community relations. The following Tilcon asphalt plants won a Diamond Achievement Commendation for 2012:
Clinton Point Asphalt
Haverstraw Asphalt
Keasbey Asphalt
Maybrook Asphalt
Mt Hope Asphalt
Newburgh Asphalt
Oxford Asphalt
Pompton Lakes Asphalt
Riverdale Asphalt
Totowa Asphalt
The Diamond Quality Commendation deals with the quality of the material produced. The areas evaluated include quality management, RAP and aggregate handling, asphalt storage, drying and mixing, air quality, truck scales, silos, and control rooms. The following Tilcon asphalt plants won a Diamond Quality Commendation for 2012:
Keasbey Asphalt
Mount Hope Asphalt
Oxford Asphalt
Pompton Lakes Asphalt
Riverdale Asphalt
Totowa Asphalt.
Congratulations to all our winners on an excellent job!
